Well spring is here and it is the time of year that you will find Tim and I in the vineyard. This is the time of year that we prune our grape vines. A few days ago our vines looked like a tangled mess or Jungle. After just a couple days of pruning they are beginning to look neat and orderly. Pruning is necessary to remove dead or injured canes, it encourages new growth and is important for disease control. We spend time with each vine assessing the branches and looking for any issues that will need to be addressed or monitored throughout the growing season. The time and care provided to our vines should ensure that they thrive for decades.
